Help me decide what to do for Halloween!

Hi guys! Contrary to my usual posts here where I warble about whatever has caught my eye recently, I'm needing some help here.

You see, like virtually all goths, I love Halloween. As a child I spent the entire month (including my birthday) waiting for it, and did actually scare a few friends with my zealous determination to decorate everything in the house and garden with cobwebs, lights, paper chains and tombstones. I spent hours looking up the most high tec smoke machines and even longer trying to persuade my dad to get them (he wouldn't, but that's not the point). Heading off to uni has not dampened my spooky spirit, and I have a few options for parties to attend, but this year brings an additional problem - I don't know what to wear.

Yup, it's only August. The more sane of you are probably wondering why I can't just wait until the season and think about it then. But last year I had my halloween costume organised in May.

And a damn fine Princess Mononoke I was too.
It's painful to have left organising my halloween costume so late in the year, but I've not really had any flashes of brilliance on deciding what my costume is going to be (well, I have one very neat suggestion, but I'm not certain if it will work yet). Whilst I'm open to the traditional guises, having done witch, vampire and cat in the past, I have no intention of picking up a ready made halloween costume, considering how shoddily they're made, and I'd be keen to try a more original idea.

Ideally, I'd like something a little nerdy, which might require people to ask what/who I am, but outlandish and strange enough that I still feel like I'm dressing up. Coffin Kitsch did an amazing costume of Lucy from Dracula which is exactly the kind of thing I have in mind, but something I didn't steal from someone else would be grand. ;)

So I am forced to ask you, lovely readers - what do I go as for Halloween? I need help FAST.

West End Festival: Mardi Gras

 WARNING: Picture heavy post!

Yesterday I went to Glasgow's West End Festival Mardi Gras, and damn it was good fun. It was almost going to be cancelled this year, but thanks to a sponsorship deal was brought back in full force.

I'd actually found out entirely by chance that the parade was on the night before, and dragged my mum along with me. Thanks to the combination of concrete, sun and lots of sweaty people, Byres Road was ridiculously hot, but despite that it was an awesome day.

Taking part was a crazy variety of groups; charities, the Conservatoire, dance groups, cultural arts societies, CND, nurseries, steampunks, drummers, plus many more I forget.

Greetings from the end of the world!

Hello! The post title might seem a bit of an odd choice, but I live in Scotland and it's pissing rain here.

I've decided to take up blogging! My posts here will probably be outfit posts, opinions, crafts and daily life blogging, because I jump about too much to maintain just one focus point. if you so choose to follow me, expect this and more as I document my mistakes and successes as I begin adult life as a goth, a medical student, a craft enthusiast, a sister and a daughter and an independent human being.

Anyway, onto a brief summary about myself -

  • My name is Fee.
  • I am a generalised odd person from Glasgow, Scotland, where everyone exists in a permanent state of heroin-heightened existential despair and carries knifes.* I love my city.
  • I am in the process of completing a medical degree in Dundee. I am not particularly fond of Dundee and miss Glasgow and my dog, but they do have a fantastic degree program here so I won't complain too much.
  • I have a tumblr, where I may cross post some of my blogging, but I wouldn't recommend following me as it's all 'ASDFGHJKL' fangirl posting and a constant spamming of bats, pretty clothing and really, fantastically bad jokes.
  • My music tastes tend towards the stereotypical goth and punk bands, but I delight in finding newer or less well known artists I also like. Not so much for hipsterdom, just because I am attracted to shiny new things, build nests and regrow my black and white plumage in the spring.
  • I like making clothes, jewellery and other assorted crafty things, but, as a gamer might put it, I am a bit of a n00b in these areas so don't expect wonders of a costume design student level.
  •  As with the above crafting, I dabble in everything but specialise in nothing.
  • I get kind of irritated by sexism, but that probably shouldn't be an odd thing (See: You Know You Live In A Patriarchy When Feminism Has Bad Connotations).

All the rest you can glean from my profile. The title of this blog might change at some point, but the URL should probably remain the same. Ta ta for now!

Oh god the hair.
